Studies have linked the birth control pills testosterone inhibiting function, with significant long term, loss of libido, that continues even after one has stopped taking the pill. These effects include diminished sexual interest and arousal, suppression of female initiated sexual activity, and decreased frequency of sexual intercourse and enjoyment. The role the pill plays in creating and increasing stereotypical female behaviors needs to be recognized and further explored.
